Ruud Gullit is the latest person to weigh in on Chelsea\u2019s decision to bring in Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chelsea<\/a> signing Welbeck<\/a> and Henderson<\/a> has sparked debate, with both players now in their mid-30s.<\/p>\n

While there was an acknowledgement that the Blues needed to add more experience to their squad, many feel they have gone a bit too far with Welbeck and Henderson.<\/p>\n

However, Gullit thinks the English duo are exactly what Xabi Alonso<\/a> requires going into the new season.<\/p>\n

Ruud Gullit claims Chelsea signing Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson makes \u2018total sense\u2019<\/h2>\n

In Gullit\u2019s eyes, Chelsea recruiting Welbeck and Henderson was very logical. He is confident that they are going to make a huge impact in the Stamford Bridge<\/a> dressing room.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Sun<\/a>, the Chelsea legend<\/a> said: \u201cIt\u2019s funny. We spent so much time discussing how\u00a0Chelsea\u00a0lacked experience, and now they\u2019ve added pure experience. Their previous issue was a complete lack of veteran presence.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHenderson and Welbeck will be crucial in the\u00a0dressing room\u00a0and on the training pitch.\u00a0They can advise younger players on what mistakes to avoid.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir impact isn\u2019t just measured by matchday minutes, it\u2019s what they do during the week.\u00a0You need that guidance in a squad, so the signings make total sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

There is also no reason why Welbeck and Henderson cannot offer Chelsea something on the pitch. They may be in their mid-30s now, but that did not stop them from playing regularly in the Premier League<\/a> last season.<\/p>\n

In fact, Welbeck only missed one game and was able to score 13 goals. Clearly, he can still play and perform at this level.<\/p>\n

As for Henderson, the England midfielder made 32 appearances, so both he and Welbeck are still practically playing full seasons in the top flight.<\/p>\n

In games where Chelsea are chasing a goal, having Welbeck on the bench will be a great option. When they are leading a game, Henderson will be able to make a contribution by coming on, controlling the tempo and telling his teammates what to do as an experienced leader.<\/p>\n

Ashley Young has also backed Welbeck\u2019s move to Chelsea<\/a>, hailing him as an \u201c11 out of 10\u201d signing.<\/p>\n

I would not go that far, but the former Brighton & Hove Albion man and Henderson could end up surprising a few people this season. We are not going to disagree with Gullit, who has made some very good points.<\/p>\n
