Xabi Alonso has named his starting side for his first competitive game in charge at Stamford Bridge against Luton Town in the EFL Cup.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Blues had less than three days to enjoy their Premier League opening-day victory against Fulham before they are back in action, after missing out on European football.<\/p>\n

Alonso<\/a> was always expected to make plenty of changes to his starting side, with the fixture against Brighton coming up on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The winner of this tie will set up a home clash in the EFL Cup third round against Leeds United, with the Blues looking to get a couple of steps further than their semi-final exit last season.<\/p>\n

There is also a change in goal, with Mike Penders<\/a> coming into the starting side in place of Robert Sanchez following his poor performance.<\/p>\n

Pressure is on the duo in the immediate future following Chelsea being linked with signing Emi Martinez<\/a> from Aston Villa this summer.<\/p>\n

The Blues will have to act quickly if they want to bring him in before next week\u2019s deadline.<\/p>\n
