The Chelsea Chronicle have named the winners and losers from the thrilling 4-3 victory against Brighton, where we saw the best and worst of Xabi Alonso\u2019s side.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After flying into a 3-0 lead, it was a nervy second half at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea<\/a>, with fears of dropping points from winning positions returning again.<\/p>\n

The Blues had new goalkeeper Emi Martinez to thank for keeping them ahead<\/a> in the second half, with him making a number of key saves.<\/p>\n

Winners and losers from Chelsea 4-3 Brighton<\/h2>\n

There was plenty of brilliance going forward for Alonso\u2019s<\/a> side though, so let\u2019s take a look at who the real winners and losers are from the 4-3 result.<\/p>\n

Winners<\/h2>\n

Romeo Lavia<\/h2>\n

A first goal for Chelsea will always be a big moment for a player, but for Romeo Lavia<\/a> his performance as a whole was absolutely dominant.<\/p>\n

Alonso has put plenty of faith in the injury-prone midfielder, and so far he is being rewarded as he continues to star in the absence of Enzo Fernandez.<\/p>\n

Emi Martinez<\/h2>\n

After the years of uncertainty with Robert Sanchez in goal, Chelsea fans were delighted to see Martinez<\/a> step up with a commanding performance between the sticks.<\/p>\n

He will be disappointed to concede three goals, but his shot-stopping, as well as his distribution, were a major positive for the Blues.<\/p>\n

Morgan Rogers<\/h2>\n

He didn\u2019t score this time around, but it was a far stronger performance from Morgan Rogers<\/a> than against Fulham. He had a hand in the first three Chelsea goals.<\/p>\n

Any fears that he wasn\u2019t going to live up to the brilliance of the rest of the front three have quickly been put to bed.<\/p>\n

Joao Pedro<\/h2>\n

Joao Pedro<\/a> scores goals, and he has started the campaign in electric form with consecutive strikes to start the Premier League season.<\/p>\n

An unfortunate own goal delighted his former fans in the away end, but it was the Brazilian who had the last laugh at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

Jorrel Hato<\/h2>\n

All of Jorrel Hato\u2019s<\/a> pace and power was on display with the assist for Chelsea\u2019s third goal, with him turning the Blues from back to front in an instant.<\/p>\n

Many believed he wouldn\u2019t suit the left wing-back role, however he proved he has the attacking ability to play that role when required.<\/p>\n

After being subbed on for his first minutes of the season for Chelsea, Moises Caicedo<\/a> was forced off injured just moments later.<\/p>\n

With a huge match against Arsenal on the horizon, this is bad news for Alonso\u2019s side, who will be using that game as a measuring stick for how far they have come under the new manager.<\/p>\n

Estevao Willian<\/h2>\n

Zero minutes today for Estevao Willian<\/a>, and the challenge of breaking into the starting side at Stamford Bridge looks incredibly difficult right now.<\/p>\n

There are fears that the golden boy from Brazil could be set for a bit-part season, which will likely not go down too well with the youngster.<\/p>\n

Mike Penders<\/h2>\n

Mike Penders<\/a> would have believed he was in for his first Premier League start today until it emerged that Martinez had been signed in time to play today.<\/p>\n

With the Argentine impressing, it looks as if it is going to be another campaign for the Belgian where he is not the number one in West London.<\/p>\n
