Manchester United legend Paul Scholes is concerned for Chelsea as they prepare for the potential departure of Enzo Fernandez.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fernandez\u2019s camp are confident that he will join Manchester City<\/a> before Tuesday night\u2019s transfer deadline.<\/p>\n

So far, Chelsea<\/a> have coped without their vice-captain. They have won their last two games under new manager Xabi Alonso<\/a>, with Fernandez<\/a> absent for those victories over Brighton & Hove Albion and Luton Town.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, Scholes<\/a> still thinks the 25-year-old moving to City could have some serious ramifications for his current employers.<\/p>\n

Paul Scholes fears for Chelsea\u2019s season if Enzo Fernandez joins Man City<\/h2>\n

Chelsea\u2019s 2025\/26 season was disrupted by Enzo Maresca\u2019s<\/a> discussions with City to replace Pep Guardiola and his eventual resignation.<\/p>\n

Scholes now thinks City could ruin Chelsea\u2019s campaign once again by taking Fernandez away from them.<\/p>\n

Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football<\/a>, the United icon said: \u201cThey obviously unsettled the manager in December\u2013January time to bring him to City for the following season. <\/p>\n

\u201cCity, really, getting into Maresca, ruined Chelsea\u2019s season last season because they were flying at the time. They were going really well. And if Enzo Fernandez goes to City now in these next 24 hours, City could ruin Chelsea\u2019s season for the last two seasons.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chelsea will only sell Fernandez if they can find a replacement for the Argentine. That is at least the message coming out of Stamford Bridge<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It has been claimed that Chelsea have contacted AS Roma about a potential deal for Manu Kone<\/a>, so the Frenchman could be an option to replace Fernandez.<\/p>\n

Whether it is Kone, Lamine Camara or someone else, Chelsea could do with another midfielder coming in. With Fernandez making himself unavailable to play and Moises Caicedo struggling with an injury, Xabi Alonso\u2019s<\/a> side have looked far from convincing in the middle of the park.<\/p>\n

In their 4-3 win against Brighton, defender Malo Gusto even got a run-out in midfield. That cannot be a long-term solution to Chelsea\u2019s midfield issues.<\/p>\n

It is why it would be madness for Chelsea to sell Fernandez without having a replacement lined up. Kone or Camara could be that replacement, so now it is a matter of whether the Blues can agree a fee with Roma or Monaco. That and the whole Fernandez saga in general could go down to the wire.<\/p>\n
