Chelsea need to sign a new midfielder in 2027, and that was made abundantly clear in their 2-1 loss to Arsenal last weekend.<\/strong><\/p>\n At one point during the game, right-backs Reece James and Malo Gusto were both playing in midfield!<\/p>\n Chelsea wanted to sign Alex Scott<\/a> in the summer transfer window, and there is an expectation that they will return for the Bournemouth star in the new year.<\/p>\n Crystal Palace\u2019s Adam Wharton<\/a> is also thought to be on their radar, but there is another Premier League midfielder who should be at the top of their shortlist.<\/p>\n If Chelsea<\/a> want to sign a midfielder with Premier League experience, they should be looking at Liverpool\u2019s Alexis Mac Allister<\/a>.<\/p>\n It was claimed that Mac Allister rejected Chelsea\u2019s advances<\/a> in the summer, but the Argentine\u2019s future is up in the air at the moment.<\/p>\n His contract expires in 2028, and he has expressed his disappointment over not getting a new one.<\/p>\n \u201cIt makes me sad to see I didn\u2019t get a new deal. But there is still time,\u201d Mac Allister said in a pre-match press conference, as relayed by Fabrizio Romano<\/a>. \u201cI will give 100% until the last day I am here. We will see what happens.\u201d<\/p>\n If Mac Allister is available, then, Chelsea should make a move for the Argentina international, who could be perfect for Xabi Alonso\u2019s<\/a> side.<\/p>\n Mac Allister ticks many boxes. At 27 years old, he has a lot of Premier League experience. Mac Allister also works extremely hard, running up and down the pitch, and has a real aggressiveness to his play at times.<\/p>\n He is tenacious and never afraid to make a tackle. That and the above are probably what Chelsea needed against Arsenal, who destroyed Alonso\u2019s men in the middle of the park.<\/p>\n Mac Allister may have said no to Chelsea after an approach in the summer, but maybe things will be different next time around as his contract continues to run down.<\/p>\n Chelsea seem set on signing Scott<\/a> or potentially Wharton, while Lamine Camara could still be an option after the collapse of his deadline day transfer.
