Pedro Neto was in fine form in his post-match interview following Chelsea\u2019s victory over Leeds United in the Carabao Cup.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chelsea<\/a> have struggled to keep their opponents out this season, and it was the same story on Wednesday night after they conceded another three goals to Daniel Farke\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

\n

Neto<\/a> is a natural attacker and did his job after scoring in Chelsea\u2019s 6-3 win. However, the 26-year-old has been playing as a wing-back under Xabi Alonso<\/a>, which means more defensive responsibilities.<\/p>\n

Pedro Neto jokes he now cares about Chelsea\u2019s defensive record as a wing-back<\/h2>\n

In a post-match interview with Sky Sports<\/a>, Neto claimed that he does not like to concede that many goals in a single game, much to the surprise of his former teammate Conor Coady, who was sat in the Sky Sports studio.<\/p>\n

Coady, who played alongside Neto at Wolverhampton Wanderers, asked the Portuguese when has he ever cared about shipping in goals. In response, Neto said: \u201cNow that I am a wing-back, lad!\u201d<\/p>\n

Alonso will be glad Chelsea kept hold of Neto<\/a> and will be pleased to see him embracing his new role.<\/p>\n

Neto was a target for several clubs<\/a> in the summer, and while the Portugal international is not one of Chelsea\u2019s untouchables, they did not want to lose him.<\/p>\n

Retaining Neto\u2019s services is now starting to look like a really good decision as he continues to make an impact on the pitch under Alonso.<\/p>\n

Pedro Neto\u2019s defensive stats vs Leeds<\/h2>\n

Against Leeds, Neto also contributed defensively, which you would expect given that he is now playing as a wing-back.<\/p>\n

According to Sofascore<\/a>, the former Wolves star made four defensive contributions. He made two interceptions and one clearance.<\/p>\n

Neto also attempted one tackle; however, it was not successful. Still, Alonso will be delighted with the shift that he put in.<\/p>\n

In Neto and Marco Palestra, Chelsea could have two really good right wing-back options this season. And if there are no concerns about Reece James\u2019 hamstrings, it is a position that the Chelsea captain could also play in.<\/p>\n
