Xabi Alonso has rightfully proven very popular with Chelsea fans since taking over as manager, however has to take some responsibility for them dropping points against Hull City today.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Blues attack was firing again, with Morgan Rogers and Joao Pedro scoring<\/a> either side of a Hull brace as they continued to impress upon their return to the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Alonso<\/a> lined Chelsea up in a back four, which was no problem due to the expectation that they were going to have more of the ball, and come up against a consistent low block.<\/p>\n

Xabi Alonso makes mistake in not starting Maxence Lacroix for Chelsea vs Hull<\/h2>\n

However, when dropping a centre-back he decided to leave new signing Maxence Lacroix<\/a> on the bench and start the duo of Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana.<\/p>\n

Neither centre-back impressed in our player ratings<\/a>, with the key reason why being how they were dominated physically by the Tigers\u2019 attack.<\/p>\n

Their first goal came from a cross which was not dealt with by Jorrel Hato, a situation which Lacroix would\u2019ve been in control of to make sure the ball didn\u2019t bounce in a dangerous area.<\/p>\n

The second came from a corner, and this was an area where the Blues were under the cosh throughout the game, as they struggled to deal with their opponents\u2019 height and physicality.<\/p>\n

Lacroix is Chelsea\u2019s best centre-back in the air, and the decision to not start him when Hull\u2019s threat was obvious remains to be answered.<\/p>\n

The France international did come on in the final moments, where he made two interceptions in just four minutes on the pitch.<\/p>\n

Alonso was quick to take the blame for the Blues\u2019 very poor start against Leeds in the EFL Cup, however he needs to take responsibility for this situation too.<\/p>\n

Working on the defence is going to be the key on the training ground this week. It is now nine goals conceded in four league games this season.<\/p>\n

Chelsea\u2019s free-flowing attack have all stepped up to the mark so far this season, but they can\u2019t continue to score three or four every single game.<\/p>\n

It caught up with the Blues against Hull, and now needs to be seen as a priority to address ahead of Friday night\u2019s game against Brentford.<\/p>\n
