Joao Pedro has been named the Premier League Player of the Month, and Steve Sidwell has shared behind-the-scenes insight about the Chelsea striker that fans will be delighted to hear.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chelsea<\/a> might have struggled to defend again on Saturday, as Xabi Alonso\u2019s side stuttered to a 2-2 draw against Hull City at Stamford Bridge. But Pedro<\/a> has been immense since the new gaffer sat in the dugout.<\/p>\n

Saturday saw Pedro score one goal and lay on an assist. He\u2019s done exactly that in three of Chelsea\u2019s four Premier League games this season, taking him to a tally of three goals and three assists this season.<\/p>\n

That form saw him pick up the August Premier League Player of the Month award, ahead of teammates Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers. It comes after missing out on Brazil\u2019s World Cup squad in the summer.<\/p>\n

Steve Sidwell believes World Cup heartbreak has focused Pedro<\/h2>\n

Pedro enjoyed a wonderful first season at Chelsea, winning the Player of the Season award. But in fairness to Liam Rosenior, the one thing he did get right<\/a> at Chelsea was getting the best out of the Brazilian.<\/p>\n

That form has continued, and if not improved, under the guidance of Alonso. Speaking on Sky Sports, ex-Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell<\/a> believes Carlo Ancelotti\u2019s snub is now being used as fuel by the striker.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s his mindset,\u201d Sidwell said when asked how Chelsea are getting the best out of Pedro. \u201cWith the World Cup and what happened in the summer with that; deeply hurt. He\u2019s had a reset over the summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cA bit of a break, off-season training. From what I\u2019ve heard, he\u2019s been absolutely on it in pre-season training. Testament to him, because certain players can go in certain ways. He can be devastating.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe link-up between him, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers \u2013 he\u2019s been a real focal point, his work rate off the ball. It\u2019s still a work in progress for Chelsea, but going forward, they are marvellous,\u201d Sidwell said.<\/p>\n

Playing with an injury and Carlo Ancelotti\u2019s u-turn<\/h2>\n

Pedro has starred for Chelsea ever since joining the club from Brighton, and linking up with Chelsea while they were at the Club World Cup. But Enzo Maresca got it all wrong with Pedro; he didn\u2019t understand him.<\/p>\n

There is the famous quote from Maresca: that Pedro will never be a 20-goal-a-season striker<\/a>. He is a player who links up play rather than being the poacher in the box. Obviously, Pedro is proving him wrong.<\/p>\n

In fact, Pedro\u2019s ability to lay on assists and still score at a 20-goal-a-season rate \u2013 if not better \u2013 proves he can do both. The start of the season saw Pedro play with an injury, but now he\u2019s getting better and better.<\/p>\n

So much so that Ancelotti has admitted his mistake<\/a> and called up Pedro for Brazil\u2019s fixtures against India and Australia during the September and October break. Pedro gets the chance to prove Ancelotti wrong.<\/p>\n
