Xabi Alonso has already had to contend with a fair number of injuries since becoming Chelsea manager. Now, he has another one, with a Chelsea player picking up an injury on National Team duty.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alonso<\/a> has already shown his ruthlessness as manager in an attempt to get Chelsea<\/a> back on track. Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro were withdrawn by Chelsea<\/a> from the England and Brazil squads this week.<\/p>\n

That comes after Moises Caicedo, Marco Palestra and Reece James were left out of their squads due to injury. Emmanuel Emegha has also spent time out<\/a> on the sidelines, but all six are due back after the break.<\/p>\n

Chelsea receive more bad injury news with Mike Penders<\/h2>\n

Belgium called up two Chelsea players for the international break: goalkeeper Mike Penders<\/a> and Romeo Lavia, after the midfielder\u2019s apparent return to fitness during the first few games of the 26-27 season.<\/p>\n

Penders has only played twice this season, keeping Chelsea\u2019s only clean sheet of the entire campaign in the 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Luton Town. He also played in the 6-3 win over Leeds United in the Cup.<\/p>\n

According to Voetbal Belgie<\/a>, Penders has picked up a quadriceps injury and will remain at Belgium\u2019s camp in Tubeke, while the rest of the Belgium squad go to Brussels to take on Italy in the Nations League.<\/p>\n

Penders will remain with former Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard in Tubeke, but the Belgians will take on France twice and Turkey during the remainder of the break. It is unclear if Penders will recover from injury.<\/p>\n
