England striker Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm following a nightclub incident in December 2025. <\/p>\n
Toney, who featured at the World Cup and plays his club football for Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday September 24.<\/p>\n
England are due to play World Cup winners Spain two days later in a Nations League game at Wembley.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Toney said: “Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court.”<\/p>\n
The charge relates to an assault which reportedly took place on Wardour Street in London.<\/p>\n
Toney was a surprise selection in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad this summer. He appeared in the semi-final against Argentina as a late substitute and then started the third-place play-off win over France.<\/p>\n
The 30-year-old joined Al Ahli in August 2024 from Brentford for \u00a340m. He scored 72 goals in 141 games for Brentford, including 36 in their three seasons in the Premier League.<\/p>\n
Toney missed the first half of the 2023\/24 season due to a gambling ban but went on to feature in England’s run to the Euro 2024 final.<\/p>\n
