Add to Preferred Sources<\/span> <\/a> <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\nUnderstandably, Chelsea supporters are very pleased with their team\u2019s attack right now.<\/strong><\/p>\n Joao Pedro missed Chelsea\u2019s<\/a> defeat to Brentford just before the international break, while Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers could not get the job done in his absence as the Blues succumbed to a 3-0 loss. However, overall, Pedro, Palmer and Rogers have really excelled this season.<\/p>\n The same cannot be said about Chelsea\u2019s defence, though. Their backline has crumbled, with Levi Colwill<\/a> really struggling in Xabi Alonso\u2019s<\/a> set-up.<\/p>\n Colwill has been playing on the left side of Alonso\u2019s back three, and it has just not worked out so far. It is early days, and there is always a chance that the Spaniard switches to a back four. Even so, some Chelsea fans on TalkingPoints<\/a> have clearly had enough of the young central defender.<\/p>\n It is true, Colwill has been underwhelming this season, but it is important to remember that the 23-year-old did suffer a serious ACL injury last summer. Chelsea are also conceding far too many goals for only one individual to get the blame.<\/p>\n In just five games, the Blues have already conceded 12 times, more than any other team in the Premier League. Clearly, there is a structural problem with Chelsea\u2019s defence<\/a> and midfield. The absence of Moises Caicedo has not helped either.<\/p>\n With all of that being said, Colwill has looked extremely uncomfortable playing on the left side of a back three and defending in the left channel.<\/p>\n While Colwill does not appear to be a good fit for Alonso\u2019s current set-up, Chelsea should not do anything rash here. Again, Alonso could eventually revert to a back four, which he used at the beginning of pre-season, and that could help Colwill to rediscover his best form.<\/p>\n If not, the England international is still a terrific footballer who may be able to adapt, while moving him to the central centre-back role is also another option.<\/p>\n Colwill is fantastic on the ball, great at getting close to his man and is a leader in Chelsea\u2019s dressing room. Chelsea fans are right to be worried about Colwill<\/a>, but it is way too soon to give up on a player of his quality.<\/p>\nChelsea fans are losing patience with Levi Colwill<\/h2>\n
