Chelsea\u2019s interest in Bournemouth and England midfielder Alex Scott has not gone anywhere.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chelsea tried to sign Scott<\/a> from their Premier League rivals in the summer transfer window but had no success. There is now an expectation that they will make a fresh move for the 23-year-old as early as January.<\/p>\n

However, Bournemouth could be set to frustrate them once again. They are determined to keep hold of Scott<\/a> for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n

Bournemouth ready to hand Alex Scott a release clause to keep him beyond January<\/h2>\n

According to TEAMtalk<\/a>, Bournemouth still hope that Scott will sign a new deal and are willing to insert a release clause in his contract to convince him to remain at the Vitality Stadium beyond January.<\/p>\n

That should hold off Chelsea<\/a> for the time being, with any release clause unlikely to become active until next summer at the earliest. Of course, the Blues cannot wait until then to sign a new midfielder.<\/p>\n

The engine room has been a huge problem for Xabi Alonso\u2019s<\/a> side this season. Enzo Fernandez is gone and Moises Caicedo has not been fit. The Ecuadorian is yet to make a start in the Premier League and has played less than 15 minutes of football.<\/p>\n

Chelsea have shown interest in other midfielders, including Martin Zubimendi and Fabian Ruiz, who both impressed for Spain<\/a> in their 4-1 win over Croatia on Monday night. However, Scott appears to be their top midfield target going into the new year.<\/p>\n

Alex Scott\u2019s stats this season<\/h2>\n

Bournemouth will just be delaying the inevitable. Chelsea\u2019s interest is not going anywhere as the England international continues to impress, while some of the Premier League\u2019s other top clubs are also thought to be keen on him.<\/p>\n

This season, Scott has played in all five of Bournemouth\u2019s top-flight matches so far. He has scored one goal and is making 2.2 key passes per game, which is the highest average in Marco Rose\u2019s squad, according to WhoScored<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Scott has also been doing the dirty work. His average of 1.8 tackles per game puts him in the top three. He is also joint-top for interceptions with an average of 1.6.<\/p>\n
