Chelsea\u2019s financial misdemeanours from July 2026 have been largely forgotten about due to the extent of Manchester City\u2019s charges for breaking the Premier League\u2019s rules.<\/strong><\/p>\n

City have been found guilty of 114 of their 115 charges in regards to breaking financial rules, with Chelsea fan Josh Hart not holding back with his criticism of them for how they have acted over the last 15 years or so.<\/p>\n

Included in the charges are 35 counts of not cooperating with the Premier League, the key area where City and Chelsea have dealt with the process differently. Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali self-reported the Blues\u2019 misdemeanours from the previous ownership.<\/p>\n

Where Chelsea were mentioned in Manchester City\u2019s 114 charges<\/h2>\n

The Blues were actually mentioned once in the Premier League Independent Commission\u2019s 40-page report detailing the investigation into City, who acquired both Enzo Maresca and Enzo Fernandez over the summer.<\/p>\n

Article 65, referring to the club\u2019s financial position between 2009 and 2010, talks about their concern that their losses from that season would exceed the most ever recorded by a Premier League club, which was Chelsea in 2006.<\/p>\n

It said: \u201c65) The Club\u2019s financial position caused two principal reasons for concern at that time in the
months and years that followed:<\/p>\n

\u201ca) As regards the short term there was real concern that the Club\u2019s total losses in the 2009\/10 season would exceed what was at that time the record single season financial loss by a PL member club (Chelsea FC in 2006) of \u00a3140million. That was a record that the Club was adamant it should not break.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 2005\/06 season saw Chelsea win their second consecutive Premier League title with Jose Mourinho at the helm, where they added Michael Essien and Shaun Wright-Phillips to their first team squad for big money.<\/p>\n

There is currently no indication of how strong the punishment will be for City for these charges, and whether it will result in them losing any of their previous honours being taken off them.<\/p>\n

Chelsea would be in a position to inherit a number of trophies to their collection after losing to City in four finals over the last 15 years.<\/p>\n

This includes the 2012\/13 and 2018\/19 Community Shields, as well as the 2018\/19 League Cup trophy and 2025\/26 FA Cup.<\/p>\n
