Chelsea are struggling in defence. The Blues have not been able to plug the leak at the back, and Willian thinks he has the answer. He\u2019s urged Behdad Eghbali to re-sign a Chelsea icon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s been 21 Premier League games since Chelsea<\/a> earned a clean sheet, conceding 12 goals in the first five Premier League games. Chelsea spent \u00a3130m on defensive signings, but ultimately, it hasn\u2019t worked yet.<\/p>\n

Maxence Lacroix and Emi Martinez are yet to combine and win a clean sheet, while Marco Palestra and Pep Chavarria are yet to get a chance. Chelsea need a leader at the back, and Willian<\/a> has an answer.<\/p>\n

Willian thinks Behdad Eghbali should sign Thiago Silva<\/h2>\n

It has been two years since Thiago Silva<\/a> ended his Chelsea spell. A four-year stint that saw him play 155 times in all competitions, helping Chelsea win the Champions League, SuperCup and the Club World Cup.<\/p>\n

Silva returned to Brazilian side Fluminense, went to Porto, and then returned to Fluminense,<\/a> where he is still playing. The 113-time Brazil star turned 42 in September, but Willian thinks Chelsea need him back.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the Obi One podcast<\/a>, Willian raved about the veteran defender: \u201cI think so. Thiago Silva is one of the best players I played with. His quality is unbelievable. I think he can play in any team.<\/p>\n

Mikel asked: \u201cBack at Chelsea?\u201d, to which Willian replied: \u201cIf I was the owner, I\u2019d put him back straight away. Maybe not every game, but to have him in the team, the young players. Unbelievable player\u201d.<\/p>\n

Silva might be his friend, but Willian speaks a lot of sense<\/h2>\n

Silva is still performing at a very solid level, but that\u2019s not the point. If he were to rejoin Chelsea, it would be as a back-up option, much like Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson, who joined in the summer.<\/p>\n

Chelsea have an elder statesman in goal, in central midfield, and up top \u2013 in Martinez, Henderson and Welbeck. At centre-back, Chelsea lack a leader, and Silva would be the ideal man to provide leadership.<\/p>\n

Silva\u2019s contract at Fluminense ends on New Year\u2019s Eve. It would allow Chelsea to sign him on a pre-deal arrangement, which would see him join the club in January. It might seem silly, but Chelsea need Silva.<\/p>\n
