Glen Johnson has been discussing Alex Scott\u2019s potential move to his former club Chelsea.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Signing a new midfielder in 2027 is Chelsea\u2019s<\/a> priority, and Scott<\/a> is at the top of their list. Right now, it is thought that Chelsea are winning the race for Scott<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Midfield has been a problem area for Xabi Alonso<\/a> this season. He lost Enzo Fernandez on deadline day, while Moises Caicedo has been out injured.<\/p>\n

The Blues will now be hoping that Scott can be the solution, and while Johnson<\/a> does rate the player, he has a concern. Not all players are able to make the step up to a club like Chelsea and show consistency, and the retired defender fears it could be a similar story with Scott.<\/p>\n

Speaking to football.london<\/a> about Chelsea\u2019s interest in the 23-year-old, Johnson said: \u201cYeah, when I\u2019ve seen him play, he looks likely to be the real deal. <\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, there are still a lot of question marks. You know, we\u2019ve seen loads and loads of players have a flash in the pan and then fall away, which I hope isn\u2019t the case for him. But there\u2019s definitely a lot more to prove and a lot more to show than saying, \u2018he\u2019s our man, go get him already\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chelsea take on Bournemouth this Saturday, but Blues supporters will not get the chance to have a closer look at Scott. Scott picked up an injury while on international duty with England and will now miss his side\u2019s trip to Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

It is a blow for Marco Rose, as the Three Lions star had started the campaign strongly. Scott has already scored one goal and is creating chances<\/a> for the Cherries in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

The fact that Scott has played in the Premier League should ease Johnson\u2019s concerns somewhat. He is young, but this is not a novice that Chelsea would be signing.<\/p>\n

His potential price tag would put a lot of pressure on him, though, and that could be tough for the Bournemouth man to handle. It is thought that he could cost over \u00a3100m.<\/p>\n

Chelsea are clearly not worried. They really believe in Scott; otherwise, they would not have been pursuing him for this long. At this point, it would be quite a surprise if they missed out on him.<\/p>\n
