Xabi Alonso cannot complain with how he is being backed by the Chelsea owners so far, and the signing of Myles Lewis-Skelly could turn out to be their best bit of business all summer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chelsea have held previous interest in Lewis-Skelly<\/a> while he has been at Arsenal, and have now been offered the chance to sign the youngster this summer following their own summer business.<\/p>\n

The Gunners have finally completed the addition of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle, making Lewis-Skelly\u2019s route to first team football far more obscured.<\/p>\n

Myles Lewis-Skelly could become the signing of the summer for Chelsea<\/h2>\n

Despite plenty of minutes coming to him at left-back, central midfield is the position the 19-year-old prefers to play, starting there in the Champions League final against PSG.<\/p>\n

The Blues are still looking for a midfielder to replace the minutes of Andrey Santos<\/a>. Jordan Henderson<\/a> has been signed mostly for his experience and leadership in the dressing room.<\/p>\n

Chelsea need a fluid, dynamic midfielder in their ranks who could be the perfect partner for Moises Caicedo<\/a> if required, and Lewis-Skelly represents that.<\/p>\n

The youngster completed more than 90% of his passes in the Premier League last season, a percentage higher than Enzo Fernandez<\/a>, who also has a big question mark over his future at Stamford Bridge<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Argentina international has been pushing for a move away from West London this summer, however so far has not seen a suitor turn up with a suitable offer.<\/p>\n

Lewis-Skelly\u2019s ability to drive forward with the ball is something that can be a great strength to Chelsea too. He completed 80% of his dribbles last season.<\/p>\n

The teenager is very rarely dispossessed or dribbled past, meaning he would not become a defensive liability if exposed to more minutes in the middle of midfield.<\/p>\n

Arsenal and Chelsea have done plenty of business together in recent years, normally with players making the move to the Emirates, such as Noni Madueke and Kai Havertz.<\/p>\n

However, the Blues have the chance here to make a really positive signing while weakening a direct rival, and one they should not pass up on.<\/p>\n
