If a club meets Chelsea’s asking price of £120m for Fernandez, the Blues will allow him to leave. According to the stats, however, Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez is perfect.

The stats are proof of that. Comparing their league form from 2025-26, it is quite clear that while Lopez is slightly more attacking than Fernandez, he is still more than capable of the defensive side of the game.

Enzo Fernandez v Fermin Lopez stats (Premier League and La Liga)

Metric / Parameter

Enzo Fernández (Chelsea)

Fermín López (Barcelona)

Age

25

23

Primary Tactical Role

Box-to-Box / Attacking No. 8

Attacking No. 8 / Box Crasher

Goals (2025/26 League)

10

11

Assists (2025/26 League)

4

9

Shots per 90

1.53

2.21

Touches in Opp. Box / 90

2.85

4.10

Chances Created / 90

1.82

2.15

Pass Completion Rate %

88.4%

87.4%

Progressive Passes / 90

7.40

4.85

Tackles + Interceptions / 90

2.90

3.45

Ball Recoveries / 90

6.20

4.10

Ground Duel Win %

56.2%

51.8%

The similarity between the duo’s stats is remarkable.
