Thomas Tuchel blocked Todd Boehly’s move for Cristiano Ronaldo

In 2022, Chelsea, or rather Boehly, had some interest in signing Ronaldo, who was still at Manchester United at the time. However, former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel did not seem to be on board.

According to The Telegraph, Boehly was intrigued by the prospect of making a move for Ronaldo, but after talks with Tuchel, he opted against submitting an offer for the 41-year-old.

It is thought that Tuchel wanted the focus to be on his team and not an individual, while the German was also very happy with the arrival of Raheem Sterling.

Sterling joined from Manchester City that summer to strengthen Chelsea’s attack, but he proved to be a disaster in the end.

There is no doubt that Chelsea would have got much more out of Ronaldo despite his age, but the finances would probably not have worked out.

Chelsea fans are quite happy with the attack they have right now, though it still needs to be tested as a unit.

They could begin the season with a front three of Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and new signing Morgan Rogers.

Xabi Alonso hinted that he could use Palmer as No.8, but you would expect his main position to be as a No.10 or right winger.

Boehly and Clearlake’s money was used to put that attack together, but it looks like the former may not be an investor at Chelsea for much longer.
