Chelsea have finally replaced Eden Hazard with Morgan Rogers and the stats prove it
Forgetting Chelsea’s defensive problems, no one can deny just how good Chelsea are when they go forward. The signing of Morgan Rogers has finally seen Chelsea sign a winger as good as Eden Hazard.
While he might have become the most expensive English player in history, costing £1m more than Elliott Anderson’s move to Man City from Nottingham Forest, Rogers has certainly proved he is a £117m player.

In his six appearances for Chelsea, England star Rogers has already laid on an impressive seven goals and assists. The former Man City and Middlesbrough star has scored three goals and laid on four more assists.
Indeed, Rogers got three assists in the 6-3 win over Leeds and was unlucky not to be awarded a fourth. But in the Premier League, Rogers has now provided four goal involvements in as many games so far.

But Rogers has some way to go to justify his transfer fee. He has to do this for the remainder of the season to even be in the same conversation as proving he is a £117m player, but it’s a very good start.
If he can become a Chelsea legend, then certainly he is worthy of the price tag. If he can be as good as Eden Hazard was while in West London, then that is the best way of achieving what Chelsea signed.
He’s made the perfect start. Indeed, Rogers has become the first Chelsea player to score or assist in each of the first four Premier League games of the season since icon Hazard did it at the start of 2018-19.
Hazard got an assist in each of Chelsea’s first two games that season against Huddersfield and Arsenal. He would then go on to score in the next three league games; Newcastle, Bournemouth and Cardiff.

Alongside Hazard and Rogers, it’s only happened on four other occasions. Didier Drogba was the first to do it back in 2010-11, before now-Como manager Cesc Fabregas managed four involvements in 2014-15.

Then, Diego Costa did it twice in three seasons. He pulled off the feat in 2014-15 and then two years later, he did it again in 2016-17. In 2018-19, Hazard went on to have a hand in 31 league goals for Chelsea.
If Rogers can have a hand in more than 30 goals for Chelsea in the league this season, he will justify his price tag. Having produced four in four games, he is well on his way to matching Hazard’s 2018-19 form.
