Valentin Barco 2.0: Chelsea plot £12.75m bid for ‘very interesting’ player with a broken leg

Chelsea’s summer window was an excellent one, even if it ended in failure. The Blues got everything they needed apart from a replacement for Enzo Fernandez at the last moment; Lamine Camara stayed put.
But the Blues have not stopped scouring the market for new additions. Already arriving at Chelsea in the future are Honest Ahanor and Benji Flowers, among others, but the Blues are not going to stop there.

The Blues have often raided Argentine giants Boca Juniors over the years. Aaron Anselmino was signed from Boca and is now a part of Xabi Alonso’s side, even if he is yet to play a single minute this season.

Valentin Barco came through the ranks at Boca Juniors. He joined Strasbourg from Brighton before the Blues spent £34m to make the red-haired Argentine star a part of the few options Alonso has in midfield.
Now, according to El Crack Deportivo, Chelsea are planning to sign Boca Juniors teenager Tomas Aranda. The Blues are planning a £12.75m bid to land the Boca wonderkid and send him to Strasbourg.
Like Barco and Anselmino, Strasbourg are to be used to blood Aranda if Chelsea do push through with a move for the exciting winger. A player Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni said is a “very interesting” player.
Tomas Aranda – what do we know, and his broken leg
The 19-year-old attacker has already clocked up 32 appearances for Boca Juniors, having a hand in four goals and earning an Argentina cap. He was seen as one of Boca’s best players since the turn of the year.
But that is said in the past tense, because Aranda suffered a broken leg in training towards the end of August. The chances are that he might have been in Scaloni’s latest squad, but for the broken leg.
Expected to return to fitness at the end of the year, there are no issues regarding a medical should the Blues push through a deal. However, Chelsea will have to recall one of their three Strasbourg loanees.
Currently, Strasbourg have Filip Jorgensen, Genesis Antwi and Dario Essugo on loan. If Chelsea were to sign Aranda and send him on loan to the French side, one of those would have to see their loan scrapped.
