Chelsea suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Brentford.
Chelsea were completely outclassed in a brutal 3-0 defeat at Brentford, with the Blues’ defense falling apart in the second half.
Brentford tore through on the counter, with Jaidon Anthony breaking the deadlock on the hour mark before Igor Thiago doubled the lead in the 82nd minute. Fabio Carvalho capped off the nightmare by slotting home a third deep into stoppage time (90+4′).

Looking at the numbers, it was a total lesson in efficiency. Chelsea controlled 60% of the ball, stacked up 502 passes, and won 12 corners, but they were utterly harmless up front, putting just two of their 12 shots on target.
Brentford let the Blues have the ball, took their moments, and hit the target 5 times out of 11 attempts to walk away with all three points.

Xabi Alonso moved to a five at the back to try and counteract Chelsea’s poor goal record last season, but things have seemingly gotten even worse this season.
No Premier League side has conceded more goals than Chelsea this season (12), with Crystal Palace behind on 11 and Coventry City on 10.
Chelsea have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their first five Premier League matches.
Two goals conceded against Fulham, two against Hull City, three against Brighton and Hove Albion, plus two against Arsenal has the Blues in serious trouble. And it’s not about to get any easier for the Blues, with an in-form Bournemouth side up next.
