Estevao Willian’s stance on leaving Chelsea after zero Premier League starts

There is now plenty of talk about Estevao, who impressed for Brazil in their 1-1 draw with Australia, being unhappy at Stamford Bridge. In recent days, the winger has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

However, while Barcelona are thought to be interested in Estevao, signing him could prove difficult.

According to Sport, as things stand, neither Estevao nor his people are contemplating leaving Chelsea. Even if they were, it is very unlikely that the Blues would consider selling the 19-year-old.

Estevao is understood to be one of Chelsea’s untouchables despite his lack of minutes under Xabi Alonso so far. The likes of Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo are also said to be on that list.

It would not be a complete shock to see Estevao’s stance eventually change, though, as there are no guarantees that he will break into Chelsea’s starting XI after the international break. Palmer, Joao Pedro and Morgan Rogers have been on fire this season, making it difficult to find room for Estevao in the team.

Alonso is going to have to ditch his back three and use a 4-2-3-1 formation if he wants to get Estevao, Palmer, Pedro and Rogers into the same side. It is a decision that Chelsea fans would likely welcome after the team’s last couple of performances.

The Blues were beaten 3-0 by Brentford before club football took a pause, while they drew 2-2 with Hull City prior to that match. Despite playing with five defenders, Alonso’s men are still conceding a lot of goals.

Estevao has done a lot of travelling during this international break so may be tired when he returns to Chelsea. But at some point, supporters will want to see him in the starting XI.
