City are not the only side who admire Acheampong. Journalist Simon Phillips has reported on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that “many” clubs are monitoring Acheampong with a view of signing him permanently in the near future.

However, landing Acheampong will not be easy. In fact, it will probably be impossible. Chelsea’s stance has always been that the young defender is not for sale, and their position does not appear to have changed.

According to Phillips, Chelsea are still insisting that Acheampong will not be going anywhere. The 20-year-old is also likely to be satisfied at Stamford Bridge at the moment.

Acheampong has only missed one of Chelsea’s Premier League games so far, making two starts under Xabi Alonso. He also played the full 90 minutes in both of the Blues’ Carabao Cup fixtures against Leeds United and Luton Town.

Chelsea supporters will want to see more of Acheampong after the international break. He hails from the club’s academy, while Wesley Fofana has yet to fully convince.

Acheampong has the pace and strength to play on the right side of Alonso’s back three. His attributes are perfect for dealing with danger in that right channel between the right-sided centre-back and right wing-back.

After the international break, Alonso’s backline may need a little reshuffle after conceding 12 goals in just five Premier League games this season. If that happens, it could see Acheampong make another start in the top flight, which many of us want to see.
