‘I’ll tell you one thing’: £38m star discusses his future just days after links with Chelsea
Chelsea are expected to go after a new defender ahead of January despite four summer signings. One option linked with the Blues this week has been discussing his future.
When the summer ended, Chelsea might have felt they had improved their defensive options sufficiently. More than £130m was spent on Maxence Lacroix, Pep Chavarria, Marco Palestra and Emi Martinez.
But 12 goals in five Premier League games have led to question marks regarding the form of Lacroix, Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill. Chelsea have been linked with reinforcements, including Jacobo Ramon.

The Spanish defender has sparkled under Cesc Fabregas since moving to Como in the summer of 2025. So much so that he has been described as “devastating” by the former Chelsea midfielder recently.
Ramon was one of three defenders on Chelsea’s January shortlist, alongside Lacroix’s new French partner Jeremy Jacquet and Marcos Senesi. Since then, Jacquet and Senesi have joined Liverpool and Spurs.

Chelsea and Arsenal now want to sign Ramon, even if he is expected to be re-bought by Real Madrid for a bargain £7m. Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Ramon didn’t close the door but said he is happy.
‘I’ll only say one thing, which is an absolute certainty: I’m very happy at Como. We’ve only just started the season; I’m not thinking about anything else. We need to have a great season, nada más (nothing more).”
How much Chelsea need to pay Madrid or Como for Ramon…
Ramon is one of the best young centre-backs in world football, starring alongside Trevoh Chalobah in Fabregas’ defence with Robert Sanchez battling Jean Butez in goal. Como look like a real force.
But Madrid’s buyback clause is a concern for Como. They had a similar deal regarding Nico Paz, which forced Como to sell him to Madrid and buy the Argentina international back for a whopping £60m.
Ramon does not want to play for Madrid; he wants to play for a side where he plays regularly. Whether Como look to sign Ramon outright after he is bought back by Madrid remains to be seen in 2027.
But Chelsea and Arsenal are interested, and reports state a £38m fee will be enough to secure the services of the Spanish defender. Whether they are paying that fee to Madrid or Como is unclear as things stand.
