Why Chelsea could actually be a viable option for Erling Haaland if he leaves Man City
Erling Haaland is already being linked with a move away from Manchester City after the Citizens were found guilty of breaching Premier League financial regulations.
It has already been reported that Arsenal are ready to make a move for Haaland if City are relegated. You suspect that the striker will be eyeing a transfer to a Real Madrid or a Barcelona, but if he wants to remain in England, the Emirates would be an ideal destination.
If Chelsea can get themselves back into the Champions League and are willing to pay Haaland’s wages, they could also be a viable option for the 26-year-old. In the past, he has actually considered joining the Blues.
According to a report from The Telegraph in 2021, Haaland was interested in joining Chelsea when he was still at Borussia Dortmund before eventually signing for City in 2022. Chelsea turned to Romelu Lukaku instead, which, of course, proved to be a disaster.

Right now, centre-forward is not actually a problem for Chelsea. They currently have Joao Pedro, who is arguably the best striker in the Premier League after Haaland.
The Brazilian has been in deadly form this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists in just four league appearances. Had Pedro not missed the Brentford game because of injury, those numbers could have been even higher.
There is no way you can turn down the opportunity to sign Haaland, though. And fitting the former Dortmund man and Pedro in the same starting XI is not impossible.
Pedro is capable of playing as a second striker and attacking midfielder, so he could start behind Haaland. Of course, there are a lot of ifs right now, while Chelsea’s priority undoubtedly has to be a midfielder.
Bournemouth want to keep Alex Scott beyond January, but the Blues could get their hands on the England international at some point.
