Morgan Rogers was one of the stars in Chelsea’s 5-1 victory over Bournemouth at the weekend.

Rogers was once again able to get his name on the scoresheet, grabbing his fourth Premier League goal of the season. It saw Chelsea take an early 2-0 lead, with Jordan Henderson scoring the opener in just the second minute.

Henderson scored again as the game went on, putting in a man of the match performance. He has received a lot of praise since then, but Rogers has not forgotten the impact another one of his Chelsea teammates made on the afternoon.

Morgan Rogers labels Moises Caicedo ‘best in the world’

Moises Caicedo made his first start of the season against Bournemouth on Saturday and did not disappoint. He put in a top performance, which did not go unnoticed.

Following the match, as most footballers do these days, Caicedo uploaded a celebratory picture on Instagram. In response to the photo, which featured Caicedo with the ball, Rogers replied: “Best in the world”.

In his position, Caicedo is certainly in the debate. However, right now, many feel that Arsenal’s Declan Rice is the best defensive midfielder in the world, although the England star did play as a No.8 often last season.

Paul Merson discussed Caicedo after the Bournemouth win and believes Caicedo actually is the best holding midfielder in football. Whether he is or not, everyone saw his importance to Chelsea over the weekend.

Moises Caicedo’s numbers vs Bournemouth

Chelsea’s matches have been like NBA games this season, but Caicedo was able to restore some order to the pitch on Saturday. That is backed up by his defensive stats.

According to Sofascore, the Ecuadorian made nine defensive actions at Stamford Bridge. Bournemouth’s James Hill was the only player to make more.

Breaking that down, Caicedo made four tackles, two interceptions and three clearances. His passing was also very accurate, with the 24-year-old registering a passing accuracy of 96%. Not bad for your first start of the season!
