It is no secret that Chelsea are prioritising a move for Bournemouth and England midfielder Alex Scott ahead of the January window, as the Blues look to replace the loss of Enzo Fernandez.

World Cup winner Fernandez left Chelsea for Man City in the final hours of the summer window, and the Blues failed to bring in a replacement despite a late move for Monaco and Senegal star Lamine Camara.

Chelsea are leading the race for Scott, who picked up a muscle injury in England’s 7-0 win over Croatia and was missing during Chelsea’s 5-1 win over his Bournemouth side on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.

Bournemouth plan for Alex Scott sale as Chelsea pursue deal

With Scott’s contract expiring in June 2028, a sale seems inevitable. Reports say Scott is keen on a move to Chelsea, with the England star excited at the prospect of playing with Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers.

Alex Scott and Lamine Camara are both exceptional talents, but who would improve Chelsea more and why?

Alan Shearer predicted Scott would be the Premier League’s next £100m player, and now TeamTalk says Bournemouth have a plan to force Chelsea into a nine-figure deal. They are ready to offer him a new deal.

But a deal that includes a release clause, which could cost as much as £100m. Bournemouth did the same with Antoine Semenyo before the Ghana winger completed a move to City. City paid his release clause.

Alex Scott is actually a boyhood Tottenham supporter

Bournemouth believe they can get £100m for Scott because of deals for Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Fernandez in the summer. All three midfielders moved between Premier League sides for £100m+.

Scott is the next hot midfielder in the Premier League, and Chelsea need a player like him, despite the performance of Jordan Henderson on Saturday. That is, even if Scott is a boyhood Tottenham supporter.

Is spending the large majority of the fee received for Fernandez on Scott good business? The midfielder is a long-term investment, but he has gone through adversity, dealing with pressure throughout his career.

He is slightly different to Chelsea’s current options, and that might just tempt Alonso and the Blues into doing a deal. If Bournemouth are willing to consider a January sale, or get him to sign a deal, is unclear.
