Zlatan Ibrahimovic made some very interesting comments about Morgan Rogers’ move to Chelsea in the summer.

Chelsea had to break their transfer record to sign Rogers from Aston Villa, paying £117m for his signature. Rogers is one of the best attackers in the Premier League, but it was obviously a lot of money.

For Ibrahimovic, it was evidently too much money. And as is often the case with the Paris Saint-Germain and Sweden legend, he was not afraid to tell everyone that!

What did Zlatan Ibrahimovic say about Morgan Rogers’ move to Chelsea?

Ibrahimovic was not happy with the direction the transfer market moved in during the summer, unhappy with all of the £100m valuations that were flying about. That included Rogers and his £117m move.

As Ibrahimovic discussed Rogers’ switch to Chelsea, he said: “They need to stop this immediately, not every player is worth £100m, it’s getting out of hand, to be honest.

“Not every player with one good season is worth £100m. I wonder how much Lamine Yamal, Vinicius and Michael Olise will be worth if Rogers is £117m.”

Chelsea have undoubtedly contributed to this inflated market. Before signing Rogers, they also spent £100m twice on two other players.

They paid £115m for Moises Caicedo and £107m for Enzo Fernandez. Rogers has now joined the South American duo on the £100m list, but Chelsea will argue that he was worth every single penny. And right now, it would be hard to disagree with them.

How Morgan Rogers has already proven Zlatan Ibrahimovic wrong

It has only been six games, but Rogers has been a revelation for Chelsea in the Premier League and is proving Ibrahimovic wrong. He already has five goal contributions after scoring again over the weekend.

Rogers has also made an impact in the Carabao Cup, recording three assists in a single game against Leeds United. Yes, it was only the League Cup, but Leeds are good Premier League opposition and Rogers did all that damage in just 45 minutes after coming on in the second half.

Rogers has the potential to be a real output machine. His numbers at Villa were bright and he has made a strong start at Stamford Bridge.

Defenders struggle to win the ball against Rogers, and the England international is always available. If Rogers was not worth £100m when he joined Chelsea, he is now.
