Chelsea remain intent on offloading as many players as they can between now and the end of the deadline, and the latest expected to depart is forgotten striker Deivid Washington.

After five permanent sales, Chelsea have raked in £150m. That fee starts to grow when factoring in Alejandro Garnacho’s conditional obligation turning permanent, and Enzo Maresca’s compensation fee.

Benoit Badiashile is set for a loan with an option to buy at Napoli, while plenty of other players are nearing the exit door in due course. The latest to be linked with a departure is striker Deivid Washington.

Three years ago, Chelsea spent £17m to sign Brazilian sensation Deivid from Santos. He made three appearances for Chelsea, but by 2025, he was nowhere near the first team and was sent back on loan.

Now, Deivid is set for a second loan departure from Chelsea, and the move inadvertently sees the Blues drop a hint regarding Mykhailo Mudryk’s future – and where the Ukraine winger will end up this summer.

Deivid Washington set for Strasbourg loan move

The loan back at boyhood club Santos didn’t go to plan, and due to a lack of impact, he was sent back to Chelsea. He has not played for the Blues since, making Deivid one of BlueCo’s worst Chelsea signings.

This week, it has emerged that Strasbourg are making a move for Deivid. The Ligue 1 side are in need of new signings after cashing in on their best players, like new duo Valentin Barco and Emmanuel Emegha.

Genesis Antwi and Filip Jorgensen have joined Chelsea’s sister club on loan, while Omari Kellyman is close to completing a permanent move. It was initially reported that Deivid would join Kellyman permanently.

However, according to Brazilian reporter Sebastião Sousa-Pinto, Deivid will join Strasbourg on loan until the end of the season. It means Chelsea’s three Strasbourg loan spots will be used up if confirmed.

“Strasbourg is working on signing Deivid Washington. Two years after seeing his transfer to Strasbourg cancelled at last minute, the Brazilian could finally head to France. Loan on the table,” Sousa-Pinto said.

Deivid loan sees Chelsea drop Mykhailo Mudryk hint

A decision has not yet been made on the returning Mudryk. The Chelsea favourite is back after almost two years on the sidelines, banned for using an illegal substance. He last played competitively in 2024.

A loan seems likeliest for Mudryk, to allow him to play. There has been plenty of interest in the winger, including Frank Lampard’s Coventry City. But the most obvious route looked to be a Strasbourg loan.

However, a loan is off the cards if Deivid becomes the third Chelsea loanee at Strasbourg after Antwi and Jorgensen. While it is not an indicator of precisely which club Mudryk will join, it won’t be Strasbourg.

The chances are that Chelsea will sanction a loan for Mudryk to a Premier League club where he will play regular football, or Xabi Alonso keeps him for depth. Deivid going on loan does give us a clue, though.
