John Terry makes Estevao plea to Xabi Alonso after noticing something new about Chelsea star
Saturday’s draw against Hull City was awash with talking points, but a familiar one arose under Xabi Alonso once again. Estevao’s game time is under the microscope, and John Terry has had his say.
Estevao has only started games in the Carabao Cup this season, and in the 6-3 win against Leeds, he was hooked at half-time while Leeds were winning. Chelsea obviously went on to score six in the second 45.
Reports in Brazil say Estevao is frustrated with his lack of game time and does not want to have to change position to get more minutes. When Estevao came on against Arsenal, he showed fans what he can do.

But having struggled to have any kind of impact against Leeds, Alonso needs more convincing to use the Brazilian from the off. Switching to a 4-2-3-1 on Saturday, Alonso preferred Pedro Neto on the right flank.
Estevao only got five minutes, and Terry believes the Brazilian should have been given more of a chance than the brief substitute appearance he got. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Terry had his say.

“Estevao comes on for five minutes; he probably could have come on a bit earlier. I would have liked to have seen Neto go over to the left; Giles is very quick – it felt like Neto struggled to get down the outside.
“I’d like to see the wingers take it upon themselves and just switch for 10 minutes, see how they get on. Estevao looked good when he came on; he looks sharp,” Terry continued, discussing Estevao’s outing.
What Terry has noticed about Estevao; makes Alonso plea
Discussing Estevao further, Chelsea legend Terry said he saw Estevao in the gym recently and believes the teenager looks bigger physically. It might be something Alonso wants before he uses the winger more.
Terry also called for Alonso to use him more: “He looks bigger and stronger; I saw him the other day in the gym. He’s developing, getting stronger. Certainly needs game time, but a great option coming on.”
Whether Estevao gets a start when Chelsea take on Brentford on Friday night remains to be seen, but it feels unlikely. Certainly, if he were to start, Estevao should have done more against Leeds in the Cup.
