After four loan spells away from the club, he probably realised that. Daniel Farke and Leeds United chose to spend £7m to land the midfielder, and he has sparkled for the Yorkshire side since, now the captain.

Since his move to Elland Road for a bargain fee, he has clocked up 132 appearances for the Whites. He has become captain for Leeds, captained Wales, becoming one of the league’s best holding midfielders.
Ampadu played a key role for Leeds on Monday night as they completed an annihilation of Newcastle, winning 3-0. This is a player that is easily worth £50m these days, signing a new deal in the summer.
Ampadu is just what Chelsea need, they’ll regret their sale
Ampadu’s form rubs salt in the wounds at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea lacking a holding midfielder who allows them to gain control of a match. Xabi Alonso was pulling his hair out during Saturday’s 2-2 draw.
Moises Caicedo’s absence doesn’t help, but Chelsea need a player like Ampadu. One that can play with Caicedo and allow the Ecuadorian to get on the ball. Steel, grit, determination; Ampadu would be ideal.
If Chelsea were to sign Ampadu, he’d easily cost north of £50m
Given the Blues sold him for £7m, the chances of Ampadu returning to Chelsea just when he has found his home at Elland Road is unlikely. Especially after signing a new long-term contract with Leeds recently.
But if Chelsea did look at signing Ampadu – they considered Gabi Gudmundsson in the summer – he would easily cost north of £50m. Leeds might even request 10 times the figure initially spent to get him.
