English media rate Morgan Rogers’ performance and make Jude Bellingham comparison

Despite playing off the left wing for the majority of his time at Stamford Bridge, the former Aston Villa man started in the number 10 role, alongside Anthony Gordon and Bukayo Saka behind Harry Kane.

While he didn’t score, he played a key role in their second goal, and English media were largely impressed with his performance as part of an attack which looked to break down a side who went down to 10 men in the first half.

BBC Sport said: “Played Bukayo Saka through with a nice pass early on and hit the post twice. Not given much room by a Czech side who defended very deep.”

The Evening Standard stated: “A decent performance in which he hit the post and nearly scored a late header but went missing for large periods.”

The Telegraph pointed out: “Unlucky not to open the scoring, when his shot on the turn hit the inside of the post and bounced out. Involved in Kane’s goal that made sure of the win.”

Rogers comparison to Jude Bellingham

Rogers was starting in the place of Jude Bellingham, who has established himself as England’s most important player since the World Cup this summer.

Despite having a decent showing, The Mirror are aware that he faces a tough task to break into the side on a regular basis, saying: “Hit the post in the first half and had moments but Jude’s are big boots to fill these days.”

At a time where Palmer is clearly in Tuchel’s bad books, Rogers has an opportunity to continue to establish himself as a key member of the camp, ahead of the European Championships in 2028.

He has two more fixtures where he can make his mark during the international break. They will travel to Croatia on Saturday before hosting Czechia again on Tuesday, and then returning to Stamford Bridge.
