How much Chelsea could be forced to pay to sign Alex Scott in January
Bournemouth and England midfielder Alex Scott still appears to be Chelsea’s No.1 midfield target.
Chelsea tried to sign Alex Scott in the summer transfer window, but Bournemouth were unwilling to sell the 23-year-old. The Blues eventually turned their attention to AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara but could not sign him either.
Chelsea’s interest in Scott has not gone away as they prioritise bringing in a new midfielder to replace Enzo Fernandez, who left the club to join Manchester City on deadline day. However, they are going to have to break the bank to sign him in January, and that is if Bournemouth are willing to play ball.

Alex Scott could cost more than £100m
It is being reported that Bournemouth do not want to sell Scott in the winter transfer window and are determined to keep hold of him for the rest of the season. The Cherries could even offer Scott a new contract with a release clause to make that happen.
Journalist Simon Phillips, though, has claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that Bournemouth would consider selling Scott in January if they receive an offer of more than £100m. It is an obscene amount of money for a young player still developing, but he is extremely valuable to Bournemouth, especially after his strong start to the season.
Scott has featured in all five of Bournemouth’s Premier League games so far, scoring one goal. According to WhoScored, he is currently making the highest number of key passes per game in Marco Rose’s squad with an average of 2.2.
He is also making 1.8 tackles per game. In the Bournemouth dressing room, only Marcus Tavernier (2.2) and Adrien Truffert (3.4) are making more.
If Scott proves to be too expensive, Chelsea could always make another move for Camara, who has impressed at Monaco this term. Whether it is Scott or Camara, Xabi Alonso desperately needs a new midfielder once the transfer market opens.
