Chelsea could face some frustration in January when the transfer window opens but look keen on strengthening their squad.

The Blues remain interested in Alex Scott after trying to sign the midfielder from Bournemouth during the summer. However, it could be a similar story if they attempt to make another move for him this winter.

Bournemouth are still reluctant to sell Scott and could convince him to put pen to paper on a new contract by including a release clause in it. Until that happens, the expectation is that Chelsea will try again in January, while the club could also move for a centre-back.

Imagine if Man City actually get relegated 😳

Chelsea could make January move for Jacobo Ramon

Como’s Jacobo Ramon is being linked to Chelsea, and the Blues could make a swoop for the 21-year-old as early as January. Any move for him in the winter transfer window is unlikely to be successful, though.

According to the Daily Briefing, Chelsea will try to open talks with Como over a January deal for Ramon. However, there is a belief that Como will refuse to hold negotiations until at least the summer.

If Chelsea are desperate to sign a new central defender and cannot land Ramon, they do have other options. The Blues have been scouting Tomas Araujo, while they are also thought to like former Liverpool player Jarell Quansah.

It is being reported that Chelsea have Quansah on their radar. The England international has really grown since leaving the Reds for Bayer Leverkusen.

Jacobo Ramon has been likened to Virgil van Dijk

Ramon has been compared to Quansah’s former Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk, with both men being big, physical defenders. Ramon and Van Dijk both stand at 6’5″.

As per AS, Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa, who worked with Ramon at Real Madrid, used to call him Van Dijk. How Chelsea could do with a centre-half like the Dutchman right now given how they have defended set pieces and in general this season.

There are a lot of games between now and the January transfer window, and there is no guarantee that Chelsea will be able to sign Ramon. Xabi Alonso needs to find another way to solve Chelsea’s defensive issues.
