The chaos surrounding Man City has taken the footballing world by storm. City’s actions over a nine-season period promise to have long-term effects – and Roy Keane has sympathy for Enzo Fernandez.

Man City have been found guilty in 114 of the 115 charges levelled against the Premier League giants, from 2009 to 2018. The Premier League has since described some of City’s finances as a “sham”.

What now happens is that the current squad will suffer. Past players may be stripped of their titles, but City’s current squad will have to take the brunt of the guilty verdict – if an appeal is unsuccessful.

Roy Keane shows sympathy towards City’s current players

The majority of City’s squad joined the club after the nine years. Only Phil Foden made his debut for City beforehand, and that is because the England international came through City’s academy from youth.

For the rest of City’s squad, the incoming judgement – again, which is subject to a forthcoming appeal – will affect them. The likes of Enzo Fernandez, Elliot Anderson and even Enzo Maresca will be affected.

You can have TWO Man City players, who are you picking and why? 👀

Imagine if Man City actually get relegated 😳

Speaking on Stick To Football, Roy Keane shared his sympathy for the players who joined the club in the summer: “The players that have been the last few years, the players that have left.

“But what about the players that have just signed for Man City? What will they be thinking? They go to Liverpool in a couple of weeks; what’s their mindset?”, Keane said, discussing Fernandez and others.

Is there a world where Chelsea could sign some City players?

The potential punishments against City are aplenty. Most commentators, such as financial expert Kieran Maguire, say a points deduction in the region of 60-100 points is possible – forcing City to be relegated.

That would force City’s current players to make a decision. Stay at City, or leave the club. Erling Haaland is supposedly open to joining Chelsea if that happens. Once again, an appeal will take place before that.

But for Fernandez, Anderson, Maresca, and others who only joined City a few months ago, it is a real kick in the teeth. They may feel blindsided by their own club, even betrayed. Fernandez may have to leave.

Is there a world where Chelsea go in for some of City’s players? Haaland will be the subject of interest from all of Europe’s biggest clubs; Abdukodir Khusanov is a target. Could Fernandez even return?
