Following the signing of Morgan Rogers in the summer, Chelsea do not look to be in desperate need of a new attacker.

Rogers has been sensational since arriving at Chelsea from Aston Villa, while Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro have been just as good as their teammate. In just seven games across all competitions, Rogers already has three goals and four assists.

With that in mind, midfield should be Chelsea’s priority going into the January transfer window. They have not coped since Moises Caicedo’s injury and Enzo Fernandez’s departure.

Yet it looks as though the club could spend some time trying to sign a new attacker this winter.

Gianluca Prestianni’s numbers impressive as Chelsea circle

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are one Premier League club who are monitoring Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni. In seven league matches this season, he has already scored five goals and provided three assists.

You can have TWO Man City players, who are you picking and why? 👀

Imagine if Man City actually get relegated 😳

Rogers has scored three goals and set up one in the Premier League, but the English top flight is obviously a much stronger division than its Portuguese counterpart, while he has also played fewer minutes. Still, Prestianni’s attacking numbers are superior.

As per WhoScored, the Argentine is also making 2.4 key passes and completing 3.1 dribbles per game. Rogers’ average for key passes is not far off Prestianni’s, with the 24-year-old making 2.2 per game. However, there is quite a gap between their averages for dribbles.

Rogers is only completing 1.8 dribbles on average, which is actually the joint-highest figure in Chelsea’s squad. But it obviously falls short of Prestianni’s number.

Player Games Minutes Goals Assists xG xG difference Key passes per game Dribbles per game
Gianluca Prestianni 7 572 5 3 2.55 2.45 2.4 3.1
Morgan Rogers 5 439 3 1 1.45 1.55 2.2 1.8

Even so, again, the England international has been a spectacular signing for the Blues so far. No one even mentions the fact that Chelsea had to break their transfer record and spend £117m to acquire his signature any more.

Given that, as well as there being no room in the starting XI for Estevao Willian, Prestianni does not need to be at the top of Chelsea’s shortlist right now.

Estevao is a quality attacker himself who is highly rated, so Chelsea have good attacking options on the pitch and the bench.
