Any Chelsea fans who wanted to see the club sign Dani Olmo from Barcelona can forget about it!

Olmo has recently been linked to Chelsea, but those rumours have been swiftly shut down. According to CaughtOffside, there is nothing in speculation that Barcelona have offered Olmo to Chelsea and their Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Olmo is a quality attacking midfielder, so some Blues supporters may be disappointed that a move to Stamford Bridge is now unlikely. However, the 28-year-old does not need to be a priority for Chelsea.

It would have been difficult for Xabi Alonso to find a spot for Olmo in his current set-up. Alonso is currently using Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers in the two No.10 positions behind the striker.

You can have TWO Man City players, who are you picking and why? 👀

Imagine if Man City actually get relegated 😳

Few would argue that Olmo is a better footballer than Palmer. And while there is more of an argument to have when it comes to the Spain international and Rogers, Chelsea’s summer signing is always going to play.

The Blues had to pay £117m and break their transfer record to bring in Rogers. He is not going to be benched by Alonso.

Alonso would have to switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation, but that would push Palmer and Rogers closer to the touchline to provide width with no wing-backs present in that set-up. And if Alonso did decide to go down that route, Chelsea fans would want to see Estevao Willian integrated into the team.

Alonso is a fan of Estevao, but he has barely used him in the Premier League this term, and Chelsea fans want to see that change. Olmo is a talented footballer, but there is just no room for him at the moment.

While the former RB Leipzig star is off the table, the Blues could sign another Barcelona player in the new year. Jules Kounde is once again being linked to Chelsea.
