Bournemouth look like they are gearing up for the exit of Alex Scott, who is attracting strong interest from Chelsea.

Bournemouth want Scott to sign a new contract, with the midfielder’s current deal set to expire at the end of next season. Even if Scott does put pen to paper on a fresh contract, he could still end up leaving the Vitality Stadium. It is thought that the Cherries are willing to hand the 23-year-old a release clause.

In an ideal world, Bournemouth would clearly keep hold of their midfielder. However, Chelsea are still in for Scott after trying to sign him during the summer, and it appears his current employers are starting to accept the possibility of an exit.

According to TEAMtalk, Bournemouth are monitoring Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Fer Lopez as they look at players who could potentially replace Scott. If they can land Lopez or someone else, perhaps they will be more open to selling Scott in January.

Alex Scott and Lamine Camara are both exceptional talents, but who would improve Chelsea more and why?

Whether it is Scott, Lamine Camara or another midfielder, Chelsea need to bring in another body for the engine room. It has been a big problem for Xabi Alonso this season, although that should not be too much of a surprise.

On deadline day, Chelsea sold Enzo Fernandez, a midfielder they thought was worth £125m, without replacing him. Alonso has also been without Moises Caicedo because of an injury, making the club’s midfield situation so much worse.

The above has left Alonso with just Romeo Lavia, Jordan Henderson and Valentin Barco as his natural midfielders. Reece James has done an OK job in the engine room, but Malo Gusto has been a disaster there.

With both men being right-backs, though, Chelsea fans need to cut them some slack and remember the club are the reason why Alonso’s men are in this situation. Hopefully Scott or someone else can correct it in January.
