Since joining Chelsea, Cole Palmer has been involved in some high-scoring games, and it has not been any different this season.

On Saturday, he featured in Chelsea’s impressive 5-1 win against Bournemouth. Palmer also played and scored a brace in an exhilarating 6-3 victory over Leeds United in the Carabao Cup.

Palmer has now been speaking about one game that gave him a sleepless night, but not in a bad way! In the 2023/24 campaign, Chelsea came from behind to beat Manchester United 4-3, and Palmer was at the heart of that comeback.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official club website following confirmation of his new contract, the attacking midfielder said: “This one was mad. I don’t think I slept that night. It was madness. The Bridge was crazy. I think that fourth goal is my favourite ever.”

Jordan Henderson starred in Chelsea’s win over Bournemouth, but who is the club’s greatest-ever free transfer? 🤔

Palmer scored a hat-trick that night, one of several he has bagged since joining Chelsea from Manchester City. At one stage, it looked like Palmer was the only Chelsea player capable of scoring goals, but that is no longer the case.

This term, Joao Pedro is Chelsea’s top scorer in the Premier League, netting five times in as many games after his brace against Bournemouth on Saturday. Morgan Rogers has also scored more goals than Palmer in the English top flight, grabbing his fourth in the Bournemouth win.

Palmer is still on two, but it will not be long before a player of his quality increases that tally. The good news for Chelsea is that Jordan Henderson has also found his goalscoring boots.

Henderson scored twice and provided an assist on Saturday, proving his doubters wrong. On a free transfer, Henderson always seemed like a steal, but he had his doubters because of his age.

Costing around £40m, Palmer can also be described as a steal. He is one of the Premier League’s top attackers and cost Chelsea very little in a crazy market. You can only imagine what his value is today.
