Jordan Henderson will be proud of both of his goals for Chelsea in their 5-1 win against Bournemouth at the weekend.

His opening goal was a stunning strike from outside the box and his first in a Chelsea shirt, while the midfielder’s second was a sublime free-kick. Overall, Henderson put in a top performance against the Cherries on his Stamford Bridge debut.

However, it does not look as though Henderson has taken all of the credit for his set-piece goal.

Jordan Henderson starred in Chelsea’s win over Bournemouth, but who is the club’s greatest-ever free transfer? 🤔

Jordan Henderson shook Chelsea set-piece coach’s hand after amazing free-kick

Chelsea hired Austin MacPhee as their set-piece coach in the summer, snatching the Scot away from Aston Villa alongside Morgan Rogers. MacPhee was not happy during Chelsea’s 3-0 loss to Brentford before the international break, but he would have been delighted on Saturday.

As the Blues’ set-piece coach, MacPhee clearly had a role in Chelsea’s fifth goal, which Henderson seemed to acknowledge. As per football.london, the England international made his way to MacPhee after celebrating with the Chelsea fans to shake his hand.

It was also a good afternoon for the other former Villa asset now at Chelsea, Rogers. The attacking midfielder scored another early goal, which was his fourth in the Premier League this season.

Chelsea have made a habit of scoring early in the current campaign, with Henderson now the latest name to join their list of players who have only needed the first few minutes of the game to find the back of the net.

Why Jordan Henderson should keep his place in the team for Everton clash

While Bournemouth’s visit to Stamford Bridge was a walk in the park for Xabi Alonso’s men, you can expect their trip to Everton this weekend to be a very different affair. The Toffees are even doing better than Chelsea right now, sitting above them in the Premier League table.

With that in mind, this is the kind of tough away fixture you want Henderson playing in. He is a midfielder and player with enough experience to help Chelsea try to control the game and keep cool heads.

Reece James may be back by then, but the Henderson and Caicedo combo worked pretty well against Bournemouth. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.
