Morgan Rogers is just two goal contributions away from humiliating former Chelsea star
Morgan Rogers has made an amazing start at Chelsea, scoring for the Blues again last weekend.
It took Rogers just three minutes to find the back of the net in Chelsea’s 5-1 win over Bournemouth, his fourth Premier League goal of the season. By that point, Xabi Alonso’s side were already 2-0 up, with Jordan Henderson scoring just one minute earlier.
Alex Scott could be available in January! If Chelsea sign him, what impact do you think he’ll make on the midfield?
As Rogers continues to impress, it really puts the struggles of some other Premier League attackers into perspective. That includes one former Chelsea player.
Morgan Rogers can equal Mason Mount’s Manchester United record this weekend
This Saturday, Rogers has the opportunity to match Mason Mount’s tally of goals and assists since his move to Manchester United in 2023. That is incredible, as Rogers has played 68 fewer games than Mount!
Rogers already has eight goal contributions in eight appearances. In total, Mount has 10 in 76. With Chelsea taking on Everton in the lunchtime kick-off and United not playing until Sunday, Rogers could equal or even surpass Mount’s United record before Saturday even ends.
You have to have some sympathy for Mount. He has had so many injuries at United, while there has also been no stability there.
| Player | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Total G/A |
| Morgan Rogers (Chelsea) | 8 | 4 | 4 | 8 |
| Mason Mount (Manchester United) | 76 | 8 | 2 | 10 |
It has been difficult for the attacking midfielder to find rhythm. Still, he has not done enough when given the opportunity to play, and the initial £55m fee Chelsea received when they sold him to United looks better by the day.
When Chelsea signed Rogers from Aston Villa over the summer, a lot was said about his price tag, which is understandable. The Blues broke their transfer record, paying £117m for his signature.
Paris Saint-Germain and Sweden legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic was not a fan of Rogers’ move, criticising Chelsea’s decision to spend that amount of money on the England international. However, no one is saying anything about Rogers’ price tag now.
Everton will be an interesting test for him and Chelsea’s other attackers, especially Joao Pedro. Like Rogers, he has also been on fire this term. Pedro is yet to find the back of the net against Everton, though.
The Toffees know how to play in a low block under David Moyes, so that could present a challenge to Rogers, Pedro and Cole Palmer. But if Rogers can overcome it and register a goal contribution or two, it is going to be an even worse look for Mount.
