Xabi Alonso starlet set to become the sixth player to join Celtic from Chelsea; it’s a brilliant move
The firesale at Chelsea is alive. Players are being sold, youngsters are leaving on loan, and Chelsea have even placed a deadline on Enzo Fernandez. Landon Emenalo looks set to be the next to depart.
Trevoh Chalobah has been sold to Como, earning boos from Arsenal fans on his debut for Cesc Fabregas’ side. Plenty more sales are expected, with Tosin Adarabioyo and other Chelsea players attracting interest.

Having brought in 11 players this summer, and loanees returning to the club, it was always expected that Chelsea would have to stage an exodus. Alonso wants four or five centre-backs; they currently have 10.
But the future of Chelsea’s youngsters also need to be sorted out. Plenty of young gems have sparkled in pre-season, with Reggie Watson and Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli at the top of the list. Others are going on loan.
Landon Emenalo set to join Scottish champions Celtic on loan
It’s a brilliant move for the 18-year-old left-back. America-born Emenalo is set for a move to Celtic on loan. Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph reports Emenalo visited Lennoxtown on Wednesday to discuss a move.
Joseph reported on X: “UPDATE: Chelsea left-back Landon Emenalo was in Scotland today to hold talks with Celtic over a loan deal, as well as view the facilities at the stadium and training ground.”
Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, Reggie Walsh, Omari Kellyman and many other Chelsea youngsters are set to join clubs in the Championship. But Michael’s son Landon is set for a move north of the border.
It gives Emenalo the chance to compete with Kieran Tierney on the left of the defence, and the chance to battle for silverware. A brilliant move, with Emenalo becoming the sixth player to leave Chelsea for Celtic.

Craig Burley was the first, almost 30 years ago. The now-ESPN pundit swapped Chelsea for Celtic, winning the league title in his debut season with the Scottish giants. Dmitri Kharine was the second, in 1999.

A third player in three years made the move to Glasgow from London, in well-known pundit Chris Sutton. The physical striker would go on to become a legend at Celtic, a key player under Martin O’Neill.
Jiri Jarosik was next, leaving in 2006 under Jose Mourinho to go to Celtic, and now, Emenalo will hope to replicate Sutton’s successes under O’Neill, with the veteran manager back in charge at Parkhead.
