There were some notable reactions upon Enzo Fernandez’s return for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Fernandez came off the bench in the 60th minute against Real Sociedad, bringing a calm, steady presence to the midfield to help Chelsea close out the game.

His minutes on the pitch follow a tense week off it, with Chelsea slapping a strict £120 million deadline on any potential transfer away. Manchester City opted not to put in a formal offer for Enzo before that clock ran out, leaving the club planning around Fernandez staying put under Xabi Alonso.

Still, with City keeping tabs on his situation, the lingering speculation means his future at Stamford Bridge is far from completely settled.

Enzo Fernandez booed and cheered by Chelsea fans

It was a bizarre scene at Stamford Bridge, as the difference in opinion was there for all to see.

When Fernandez was brought on in the 60th minute, it was greeted by a number of boos, but cheers could also be heard from certain sections.

And it didn’t stop there, as fans even started singing Fernandez’s name at one point, as well as cheering when he was fouled and booing him with every touch. So make of that what you will.

Enzo Fernandez could still leave Chelsea this summer

Despite the deadline being over, there is still every chance that Enzo Fernandez leaves.

Enzo Maresca still wants to sign the midfielder and his agent, Javier Pastore, has been trying to secure Fernandez a move to Manchester City in recent weeks.

However, the positive for Chelsea is that it’s on their terms. The £120 million price tag was seen as more of a release clause agreement, so Man City will likely have to now pay more if they really want him.
