Chelsea players have warmed to Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson

The arrivals of Welbeck and Henderson have seemingly had a positive impact at Cobham.

According to journalist Simon Phillips on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, the Chelsea players have really taken to both Welbeck and Henderson.

Welbeck is also on the good side of Chelsea supporters right now after scoring a brace in the Blues’ 6-3 win against Leeds United in the third round of the Carabao Cup last week. It was Welbeck’s third goal in a blue shirt, with the striker having also scored in the previous round.

Unfortunately, Henderson is yet to make his Chelsea debut, as the midfielder continues to recover from the freak injury he picked up at the World Cup.

Last month, Steve Bruce praised Chelsea for signing Henderson, his former player at Sunderland.

Xabi Alonso could do with Jordan Henderson right now

It is a shame that Henderson is injured, as the 36-year-old could have really helped Chelsea in their recent matches.

With Moises Caicedo also out injured, midfield has been a huge issue for them this season. Caicedo has not been there to sweep up and protect the defence, while the midfield has really struggled to control games so far.

Henderson is actually good at doing that, getting on the ball and dictating the tempo of matches. Chelsea’s recent 2-2 draw with Hull City, for example, probably would have been less of a NBA game if he had been playing.

Hopefully Xabi Alonso gets both Henderson and Caicedo back soon, as Romeo Lavia and Reece James have not looked convincing as a double midfield pivot.
