Xabi Alonso shares Levi Colwill and Geovany Quenda’s situation

Xabi Alonso addressed any concerns involving Levi Colwill and Geovany Quenda after their absence against Luton Town, revealing that he wants to be careful with the pair.

He said: “With Levi, after his injury last season, he is still in a period where he has to take the right steps, we don’t want to push him too much. We want to make sure [his body] doesn’t get stressed and that he feels comfortable and well. It’s the same with Geo as well.”

It makes sense given the injury histories of both players, especially against a side like Luton, who are much easier opposition compared to a Premier League opponent.

Moises Caicedo could also return soon

Alonso also gave an update on Moises Caicedo, who suffered a minor fitness setback in training.

However, it won’t be long until he’s back in action.

“He is hopefully training [on Friday] and we are hopeful that he can be involved [against Brighton]. But we need to check. No decision has been made.”
