Chelsea fans will love what Burnley manager said about Dastan Satpayev despite heavy 4-1 loss
If Dastan Satpayev thought he would be joining a side that would dominate the Championship and fight for promotion, early signs are that he and Chelsea have got it badly wrong.
Only just turned 18, highly-rated Satpayev caught the eye of Chelsea supporters in the summer after scoring against Western Sydney Wanderers. Already a Kazakhstan international, the hype is enormous.
Lamine Camara and Moises Caicedo are VERY similar midfielders…
Should Chelsea be targeting someone else instead? Let us know who you think!
Xabi Alonso is known to be very excited by Satpayev. But such is the competition at Chelsea, all parties felt a loan move to the Championship was best for the attacker. The club chosen was relegated Burnley.
A yo-yo club that have starred in the Championship but struggled in the Premier League over the last decade. The belief was that Satpayev would join a side winning most games and fighting for promotion.
Burnley form so far and Dastan Satpayev’s minutes
He was not signed in time for Burnley’s first game against West Ham, but he came on as a sub in their next game – a 3-1 loss to West Brom. Even then, Burnley fans were impressed with his cameo display.

In the week, he started his first game and lasted 80 minutes as Burnley drew 0-0 with Bradford City and lost on penalties. On Saturday, he played the entire match but Burnley were hammered 4-1 by Norwich.
New Burnley boss Nicky Hayen heaps praise on Satpayev
Despite the dismal result against a side that had struggled in their first two Championship games, Nicky Hayen still found the time to heap praise on Satpayev. There is no doubt he was Burnley’s best player.
Valentin Barco impressed tonight, but do Chelsea still need a new midfielder this summer? And if so, who?
Enzo Fernandez reportedly asked to be left out tonight…
He even says that the rest of the Burnley squad need to take a leaf out of Satpayev’s book moving forward: “Today, you also saw Dastan Satpayev – the 18-year-old was the best player on the pitch.
“There are other players who need to look at themselves and ask themselves some questions. If you saw the energy he brought, the way he fought for the team; that’s exactly what everyone should be showing.”
Dastan Satpayev’s stats from 4-1 hammering at Norwich
According to FotMob, Satpayev was Burnley’s second-highest rated player on the day with a display of 7.4. He boasted a combined XG and XA of 0.88 and more touches in the opposition box than any player.

The result did not reflect the match, with Burnley having plenty of chances too – Satpayev created three, second-most on the pitch while completing 24 of his 33 passes and enjoying 55 touches throughout.
He also showed his work rate and defensive intelligence, joint-second for interceptions (3) and while he lost eight duels, he still managed to win six – joint-first on the day. A top performance, despite the result.
