Chelsea fans were thrilled with the debut of Emi Martinez in their 4-3 win over Brighton, with some even labelling him as the best signing made this summer.
Martinez was straight in the starting side at Stamford Bridge, replacing Robert Sanchez as he looks set for a move away before Tuesday’s deadline.
Despite conceding three goals, Chelsea have the Argentine to thank for keeping them in the game in the second half, as Brighton threatened a remarkable comeback.

One user said: “Without sounding too dramatic… I think this could be the signing of the summer. Courtois is the last decent keeper Chelsea have had, this one could be huge…”
Another claimed: “Love the signing, think It was a long time coming. But I wouldn’t say It moves them into title contention, definitely should finish top 5 though.”
A third stated: “Always said Chelsea will never win the league with Sanchez in goal. Martinez is a massive upgrade. Add his arrival to playing just once a week, Chelsea have a huge chance.”

The Ecuadorian was forced off injured after coming off the bench against Brighton, and Xabi Alonso was uncertain as to how serious the issue was.
He will be a massive miss if he is unavailable at the Emirates, a game where Martinez can expect to be busy again between the sticks.
