Bournemouth have made it clear in the last few days that Alex Scott is not for sale, and the Chelsea target seemed to make a similar suggestion after scoring on Saturday.

Before Bournemouth’s 1-1 draw against Everton, Cherries manager Marco Rose said he was “120%” sure that Scott would remain at The Vitality this summer. That is despite Scott refusing to sign a new deal.

Then, on Saturday, Scott put Bournemouth 1-0 up against David Moyes’ side. Everton would eventually equalise, but during his celebration, Scott pretended to pick up the phone and then slam it down.

With less than 48 hours left to go in the transfer window, Scott looks set to remain at The Vitality, and a deal seems unlikely. If Chelsea tabled a wild offer, Scott will stay at Bournemouth until at least January.

Scott took to Instagram after opening his Premier League account for the campaign, as Bournemouth were unlucky not to win. Chelsea made a £64m bid earlier in the summer, but it was turned down.

Rogers is a former England U21 teammate of Scott’s, and he described Scott as a “ballaaa”. There was plenty of other reaction too, with Max Aarons commenting “wow”, and a star emoji from Justin Kluivert.

But it was Jack Grealish that made the most interesting comment. Grealish, who was on loan at Everton last season, told Scott to calm down: “You need to calm down. What a player, brother”.

If Scott is staying, who could Chelsea sign before the deadline?

Whether Chelsea sign a new midfielder could likely hinge on Enzo Fernandez’s future at Stamford Bridge. The Argentine remains a Chelsea player, but he was missing from Chelsea’s squad on Sunday, again.

The chances of Fernandez’s move to Man City remain high, but they are dwindling as the deadline draws close. Lamine Camara looks the most likely candidate to come in, but Chelsea do have other options.

Eduardo Camavinga, Adam Wharton and Scott remain candidates for Chelsea before the deadline, but all three seem very unlikely. Manu Kone of Roma has also been touted, but preference is given to Camara.
