What Chelsea target Lamine Camara is doing on transfer deadline day

With just hours to go in the transfer window, there is so far no movement on Chelsea making Camara their number one target today, and as far as he is concerned he is carrying on with business as usual.

As per Santi Aouna, the midfielder remains with his current squad, and has not gone AWOL to try and push a late move through.

He said: “At this moment, Lamine Camara is still in Monaco. The Senegalese midfielder was indeed present with the rest of the group this morning.”

He has continued to feature for the Ligue 1 side in the early stages of this season, and impressed French media with his recent appearance against Marseille.

Camara is not a suitable Enzo Fernandez replacement

Many Chelsea fans will feel though that the signing of Camara would not be enough to replace Fernandez, as he is still trying to join one of their biggest Premier League rivals.

This also comes in the wake of Moises Caicedo hobbling off injured against Brighton, with there so far no update on how his fitness has been affected.

Chelsea haven’t left themselves long enough to realistically finalise a deal for someone like Adam Wharton or Alex Scott, with both having Premier League experience under their belt.

Camara is stylistically very similar to Caicedo rather than the Argentine, meaning the Blues are at risk of leaving a hole in their side for Alonso to try and deal with this season.
