Chelsea’s transfer window has been looked at very positively so far this summer, and Manchester United legend Nicky Butt believes they may have made the ‘signing of the century’.
Chelsea chiefs are still working hard to try and finalise deals in the final hours of the window, however this is all revolving around what the future will hold for Enzo Fernandez.
Looking past the central midfielders, the Blues have added top-level players in a number of positions, including Morgan Rogers and Maxence Lacroix.

Nicky Butt thinks Chelsea may have made the ‘signing of the century’
Their most recent key addition has been Emi Martinez, who instantly replaced Robert Sanchez between the sticks for their recent game against Brighton.
Club legend John Terry was full of praise for the signing, and now Nicky Butt has stated that the small price tag Chelsea paid could make him the ‘signing of the century’.
He said to ‘The good, the bad and the football‘: “It could be the signing of the century that, seven million quid for someone like that who’s played in World Cup finals, won World Cups, you know, he’s been brilliant for Villa.”
Terry and Petr Cech were amongst those who helped convince Martinez to join Chelsea, with the goalkeeping position proving to be one real weakness at Stamford Bridge.
The Argentine conceded three goals on his debut against Brighton, however still came out of the game with plenty of praise after a string of great saves.

Martinez is the perfect goalkeeper for Mike Penders to learn from
Chelsea supporters are delighted with the signing, and believe he will also be the perfect option for promising youngster Mike Penders to learn from as he continues his development.
There is plenty of hype around the Belgian, and he has already made his Chelsea debut this season in the EFL Cup against Luton Town.
While his path to first team football has been blocked in the short term, there is far more optimism around him learning from Martinez than Sanchez.
The future is still very much in Penders’ hands, however for now it is Martinez who will be tasked with sorting things out between the sticks in West London.
